Dear all,

Greetings!!

Women Property Rights Campaign I Launch of a Short Film "Give Women Their Share"
30th October, 4-6 pm,
Deputy Chairman Hall - Constitution Club
New Delhi

For those who are in Delhi , it is an invite from Oxfam India to be part of the launch of a short movie "Give Women Their Share"  followed by an exciting panel discussion with prominent panelists. This movie launch is a part of Oxfam India's campaign on Women's Right over Property, "A Land of My Own".

As part of Oxfam India's broader ClosetheGap campaign, since March 2013, Oxfam is steering discussion around the issue of 'Inequality' existing in our society. Despite of several legal reforms, one of the biggest inequalities that still exists in India, is the disparity in the rights over property. Though the exact statistics are not available, estimates suggest that less than 13 percent of landowners in India are women. Without social awareness and attitudinal change, equal property rights will remain enshrined in law, but elusive in reality. Together we need to build a social reform movement to transform the society and Close this Gap.

Panelists are:
1.        Honorable Union Cabinet Minister Shri. Jairam Ramesh - Union Minister for Rural Development
2.        Dr. Bina Agarwal - Professor of Development Economics and Environment, University of Manchester & Former Director, Institute of Economic Growth
