Top 5 batsman with highest test average in modern era

This list compromises of batsmen who have scored more than 10,000 runs or above in the test matches with highest average.The list will surely surprise many cricket fans as great batting legends like Ricky Ponting,Steve Waugh,Mathew hayden find themselves out from this llist.So,here is the list of top 5 batsman with highest test averages in modern era:

5.Rahul Dravid:



The wall of India who is also known as Mr. dependent certainly lived up to his high class nicknames with a test average of 52 runs per innings which also included 63 half centuries as well 36 centuries for his national team India.

4.Brian Lara


He is fourth in our list of batsman with 'highest test average' with average of 52.88 runs per innings.He played 222 innings for West Indies in which he scored 11923 runs which included 34 centuries and 58 half centuries.Lara also holds the record for highest runs scored in an innings with 400* against England.

3.Sachin Tednulkar


Another Indian in our list and the god of cricket is Sachin.Sachin holds the record for highest runs in test matches and he has scored over 16000 runs in test with an impressive average of 54.00 runs per innings helped by 51 centuries(which is also a record) as well 67 half centuries.

2.Jacques Kallis


The world no.1 allrounder is the 2nd non test retired player to feature in our list.Kallis who has been a backbone of south African Cricket for many years 13000 runs in test with an average of over 55 runs.Also he has 44 centuries and 58 half centuries to his name as well.

1.Kumara Sangakara:


Certainly a surprise entry for the top spot in the list of batsman with highest test average,Sangakara has just passed 10000 runs mark in tests with an impressive avergae of 58 runs per innings for Sri Lanka.He also has scored 33 hundreds and 42 half centuries.
