Arab tribe elders meet Asaduddin Owaisi in Barkas
HYDERABAD: Extending an olive branch to the Owaisi brothers from Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM), who have been at loggerheads with Mohammed bin Omar Yafai aka Mohammed Pehelwan since legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi was attacked in 2011, elders from the Arab tribes in Barkas met Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and his younger brother Akbaruddin Owaisi on Thursday.
While MIM sources said that none of the Yafais were present at MIM headquarters at Darussalaam, the admitted that members of the Wahlan and Jabri tribes were holed up in Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi's office for around an hour.
"We do not know what exactly transpired inside the MP's chamber but we are aware that an offer of truce was made. We are also unaware of the outcome of the round of discussions. There will be some clarity in a day or two," said an MIM leader requesting anonymity.
Another source added that the reconciliation offer was likely to be turned down by the Owaisis. "We think that MP and MLA will turn down the offer as there are cases pending in courts of law against the Yafais," he said.
