I recommend this film to EVERYONE: Dilawar was an innocent Afghan taxi driver who was picked up by US forces in 2002 and brought to the prison at Bagram airbase and held in the same communal cell as me. I will never forget what happened to him.

With my eyes I witnessed him being punched and kicked while his hands were shackled to the top of a cage. He was continually struck all night as some soldiers found his response amusing . That response was uttering "Allah, Allah" each time a blow landed on him. They were the last words he ever spoke. Those responsible - and many others - tell his story in this film alongside senior US soldiers, politicians, journalists, his family and...me. The film won the Oscar for best documentary in 2008.
