Wintemute main point 2013 10-29 lecture
Making Borders Matter Less: "Relevance of the European Union Experience to South Asia" at HRCP
"Borders should become bridges and not barriers for peaceful citizen and facilitate the suffering humanity", was the crux of special Lecture by Prof Robert Wintemute of Kings College, London last evening at "Aiwaan e Jamhoriat under the aegis of Democratic Commission for Human Development (DCHD) and Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP)
Prof Robert studied Law at University of Alberta McGill University and was awarded D. Phill from the university of Oxford in 1993. He specializes in Contract Law European Union Law, Anti Discrimination Law and Human Rights. Prof Robert Wintemute was of the view that European Union could be a role model for South Asian countries, i.e. Pakistan, India and Bangla Desh where "VISAFREE" travelling might facilitate free movement of goods, services, capital along with workers and tourists to boost the economy of the respective countries.
He further emphasized that tourists visitors should be welcome in each country and be provided with opportunities of enjoyment at the resorts in other countries without fear pressure.
Ms Jasmine Saeed enthralled the audience with her meaningful poem on the eve which was fully relevant to the subject.
The capacity pack auditorium was also addressed by Mr. I.A Rehman and Tamir Jahan of DCHD who also emphasized that borders should remain sacred and human rights should be regarded as more sacred.
